FREE STATE STADIUM

The Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein was originally built for the Rugby World Cup of 1995. Then, it was revamped to host a number of matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.

Did you know? The Free State Stadium’s current tenants include the Central Cheetahs, the Free State Cheetahs and the Bloemfontein Celtic Football Club.

Considered to be one of the most sophisticated stadiums in South Africa, the Free State Stadium has a seating capacity of 46 000. There are eight entrance gates. The hospitality facilities of the stadium comprise 100 suites, an entertainment deck, and 15 fixed gazebos.

Rabada urges Proteas to learn from World Cup flop

Kagiso Rabada admits his South Africa team-mates must learn the painful lessons from their dismal World Cup campaign.

Faf du Plessis’s side were eliminated from the tournament with two games to play after losing to Pakistan at Lord’s on Sunday.

The Rugby Championship: How the World Cup affects fixtures

The 2019 edition of the Southern hemisphere’s premier international competition, the Rugby Championship, will be a truncated one on account of the World Cup.

The Rugby Championship kicks off with the first of three rounds of action being played out on Saturday 20 July, two weeks after the Super Rugby final.

The Springboks will be able to assemble their squad sooner than the other sides in the competition but will have to play two of their three matches away from home.

SABC to broadcast part of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) have reached an agreement with Supersport which will bring a portion of the Cricket World Cup to free to air TV.

Supersport own the exclusive broadcast rights to the event within South Africa but will allow the national broadcaster to deliver selected matches to their audience live.

Additional matches will be broadcast delayed and the SABC will be allowed to add Cricket World Cup 2019 highlights to their programme.

The SABC has an existing agreement with Supersport that allows them to produce their own broadcast of all international matches involving the Proteas played on South African soil.
