Three South African safaris ranked amongst “world’s best” by Instagram

The stunning natural beauty of Africa is unparalleled on any other continent. The beating heart of the animal kingdom resides here, as nature’s most magnificent beasts fight for supremacy. Of course, nothing encapsulates this more than a safari adventure in the furthers corners of the bush – and Instagram seems to agree.

True Luxury Travel have been doing a bit of number crunching and data mining this month, and their research has turfed up some interesting results. They have looked at the most-tagged safari locations in the world and formed a definitive top 10 based on how many people are sharing their snaps from “traditional African destinations”:

“As going on a safari holiday is one of life’s greatest adventures, we decided to find out which safari destinations are the most popular – according to Instagram – by turning to the widely used photo sharing platform to analyse the number of times every traditional African safari destination was geo-tagged by users, sharing a photo in that location.”

Geography buffs probably won’t be surprised to hear that Victoria Falls is the most “Instagrammable” destination in the world. The breathtaking cascades of water really are incomparable to any other experience.

Then we’ve got the Serengeti, a worthy runner-up and a magnificent setting for animals to roam free and wild. South Africa stakes its first claim in third, with the Kruger National Park racking up the visitors and becoming Mzansi’s most-frequented safari park.

Addo Elephant National Park (6th) and Sabi Sands Game Reserve (9th) also make the official top 10. Of course, we’d snap your hand off if you offered us a stay at any of these gorgeous destinations – here’s who else made the cut:
